1st Day of Training and Awesome New Recipe

Leave it to me...not only did I decide to discuss my real estate experience, I thought I might spice (pardon the pun) it up by sharing "tried & true recipes" by me. I know multitasking! I did not used to know how to cook until I started following the Food Network and trying new recipes at least once a week. I have now become a really good cook. I actually think I would do well being a chef in a restaurant. I have now gotten to the point where I can tweak recipes to make them even more yummy!! Gone are the days of campbell soup recipes (not that there is anything wrong with them, they are good too), nowadays I am gravy master, saute & sauce queen!!

Tonights recipe was awesome!!!!!

Pork with Orange Sauce
Courtesy of Good Housekeeping
4 lg carrots, cut into 1-in chunks
1 whole pork tenderloin, trimmed of fat & silver
1or 2 large navel orange
1 tsp. olive oil
1 small red onion, sliced
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard with seeds
Cook carrots in microwave or stovetop to your liking . I hope you already know how to do this :)
Slice pork into 1 1/2" slices crosswise, flatten with hand. Salt & pepper the slices. Heat oil over medium high heat and add pork. Add onion slices and cook about 4 minutes per side until brown and cooked through. Meanwhile, from orange grate 1/2 tsp. peel and squeeze orange. If you can get 1/2 cup or more, great, otherwise can add 100% orange juice to make up. Remove pork only and keep warm.
Add mustard, orange juice, and peel to skillet with onions and let cook for about 1 minute
Serve sauce over pork and serve with rice.

On a real estate note, I drove all the way to Portsmouth today for my 1st of 10 training classes. Portsmouth is over an hour drive, so it made for a long day. But hey, I had time to get home and make this yummy pork dinner, now that's a fast meal! Today was about all the ins and outs of Coldwell Banker and what it has to offer it's agent's and customers. Amazing really, how much they invest in their agents and customers. I am so impressed. One thing I found interesting in my class, not one man?? All of the new agents in my class are women and the majority were stay at home moms. Go figure, is this the wave of the future for us moms? Go girls! Let's make some moolah!! Of course I hope you don't think I am all about making money. I do look forward to being an open, honest, and knowledgable real estate agent. Actually, the instructor would like to call us "Real Estate Consultants"..I love it! Kris

Training

I start training this week. Have to drive an hour and a half to Portsmouth and farm my kids off everywhere. I am looking forward to it though, it will be nice to learn the ins and outs of this business. Had a great day Friday, my business cards came in and Bill Richards who has been in the business for 35 years took me around a couple of beach communities (Suissevale & Balmoral) and gave me the insight of these two very popular vacation communities. Knowledge is definitely power in this business. I made some good contacts over the weekend now that I have business cards. Hopefully, someone will call :)

Making Contacts

So...I am supposed to make 10 contacts a day, 5 days a week. I live in a very small town and I am trying my best to tell everyone that I am now working with Coldwell Banker. I am still waiting for my business cards, so this can be difficult. I mean, hard to create credibility with a business card that I hand write my name and cell number on. I did tell three people I am now selling real estate and it is only 9:00 a.m. Not bad I suppose. Which poses the question....how do you make 10 contacts a day? Learning process, I guess. It's a good thing that generally most people like me and I play well with others.

I will keep trying.....Kris

Introduction

Hi,

Well here I am... I decided to start a blog about the trials of becoming a successful real estate agent after being a stay at home mom for the past 8 years or so. Although being a stay at home mom of three kept me busy, I always longed to make my own money...or maybe it's just being scared of relying on another person, or I am just damn stubborn, I don't know. Anyway, I always was the one looking all over online and elsewhere to work from home. Not very successful I might add, but at least I tried. I had a few jobs, but the teeny tiny paychecks I did receive were definitely not worth how hard I was working :)

To make this short, I am going to give myself a challenge to sell or co-broke a house in the next six months. Hopefully I will do a lot more than that, but with this economy who knows. I just started with Coldwell Banker and start my training classes next week. I have been in the business since March of 2009, but I will share my adventures from here on out. Wish me luck! Bye for now ~ Kris
